CAPUCHIN KRISHIK SEVA KENDRA ®
Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra (CKSK) is a voluntary organization run by
Franciscan Capuchin Fathers of Karnataka Province, registered as a
Society in 1976. CKSK is situated in Dakshina Kannada District; the
taluk is at the eastern end of the coastal district and at the foothills
of the Western Mountain Ranges. Since 1969 it has initiated its effort
for the development of the economically poor and the backward people,
irrespective of their caste and creed. Ever since, it has been working
without stop for the development of the poor by considering the
different issues, programs based on the need of the people at different
stages.

Nutrition and
dietary awareness program
Vimukti
SHG trust conducted the awareness program on intake of nutritious food
and its benefits on our health in Badyar, Bajire, Kalenja and
Kayarthadka clusters of the Taluka. Primary health care officers Ms.
Rekha and Ms. Sujatha explained the importance of nutritious food in
maintaining the balanced diet and health. A variety of food item s
were showcased by the women of
these clusters. Ms. Rohini, Ms. Savitha and Ms. Jalajakshi represented
the organization during the program. The program was arranged and
conducted by the women of Badyar, Bajire, Kalenja and Kayarthadka
clusters of Vimukti SHG Trust.

“Importance of
Cleanliness” Program in Govt. Schools
Vimukti
SHG Trust, Laila, distributed cleanliness kits to 9 government schools
of the Taluk in the month of July, 2025, and created awareness of
cleanliness in children. Govt. Higher Primary School, Halepete:
09.07.2025 ASHA activist Ms. Manjula shared important points on how
malaria and dengue spread and asked the children to keep their
surroundings clean. SDMC president, head teacher of the school, all
staff and students, and also CKSK mobiliser Rohini were present. Later
Ms. Rohini presented the cleanliness kit, consisting of 2 buckets, a
mug, a toilet brush, and 5 litres of phenyl, to the school. Govt.
Higher Primary School, Kuntalapalike: 10.07.2025 CHO Mr. Jagadish
demonstrated the right way of washing hands. ASHA activist Ms. Rajeevi,
Gram Panchayat member Ms. Bhaathi, mobiliser Savitha, and the school HM
and staff were present. Govt. Higher Primary School, Koyyur:
14.07.2025 CHO Ms. Geetha explained to the children the different ways
to keep themselves away from contagious diseases by keeping the
surroundings clean. SDMC president Mr. Vinay, ASHA activist Ms. Kusuma,
mobiliser Savitha, the school HM, and all staff were present. Govt.
Higher Primary School, Malebettu: 15.07.2025 PHCO Ms. Harinakshi
gave awareness on first aid for snake and dog bites along with the
importance of cleanliness. ASHA activist Ms. Jayanthi, mobiliser Ms.
Savitha, HM, and all the staff were present. Govt. Higher Primary
School, Arambodi: 21.07.2025 CHO Mr. Kiran Kumar put light on
surrounding cleanliness. SHG Cluster president Ms. Yashavanthi,
Mobiliser Savitha, HM, and all the staff were present. Govt. Higher
Primary School, Devanari: 23.07.2025 Ms. Mohini, mobiliser of the
organisation, explained to the children about the importance of
cleanliness. Ms. Elsy, the cluster president, was also present along
with the school staff. Govt. Higher Primary School Kanyadi:
21.07.2025 PHCO Ms. Soumya gave insight on cleanliness in our lives.
Govt. Higher Primary School Bangady: 28.07.2025 ASHA activist Rajani spoke about the
importance of cleanliness
in
and around the school. Govt.
Lower Primary School Kolpadi: 29.07.2025 CHO Ms. Tejovathi explained
to the children to avoid sickness by keeping themselves and the
surroundings clean. ASHA activists Ms. Prema and Sheelvathi were also
present along with the school staff.

8th Suvidya
Interest-free Education Loan disbursement programme
The
Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra (CKSK), in partnership with the Kuwait
Canara Welfare Association (KCWA), held the disbursement ceremony of the
Suvidya 2025 interest-free education loan scheme on Sunday, July 13, at
the Vimukti premises in Belthangady. The initiative aims to empower
economically disadvantaged students from the Diocese of Mangalore by
supporting their pursuit of higher education. A total of 33 students
were selected to receive financial support under the scheme this year.
The event began with a prayer and a formal inauguration, featuring a
symbolic display of the program’s annual progress. KCWA President
Prakash Godwin Pinto, Fr Paul Melwyn Dsouza (Vicar Provincial of the
Holy Trinity Province, Karnataka), Fr Deepak Fernandes (Director,
Dayalbagh Ashram), former KCWA President Naveen Mascarenhas, KCWA
Secretary Reena Rego, Committee Member Prashanth Ferrao, Fr Vinod
Mascarenhas (Director, CKSK-Vimukti), and Fr Rohan Lobo (Assistant
Director, CKSK-Vimukti) were present at the ceremony. Laveena, the
programme coordinator, gave a comprehensive overview of the Suvidya
initiative from 2018 to 2025, highlighting its positive impact and
growth. Addressing the gathering, KCWA President Prakash Godwin Pinto
reflected on the organization’s journey and acknowledged the
contributions of past office bearers and generous donors. He was
honoured by CKSK in recognition of KCWA’s unwavering commitment to
educational upliftment.

Cleanliness
Program in Anganawadi
Vimukti
SHG Trust, Laila, conducted cleanliness drive in Gardady, Perlabaipady
and Perla-Ujire anganawadi’s by the help of the women of these three
clusters. The main objective of the program was to maintain proper
hygiene and cleanliness in and around the Anganawadi. On 12.08.2025, 12
members of Gardady cluster cleaned the surrounding of the Mugeradka
Anganawadi. Later they conducted a few games for the children and
encouraged them by giving prizes. A centre table worth Rs. 1000 was
handed over to anganawadi by the members of Gardady cluster. PDO of
Padangady was also present and
appreciated the work of Vimukti. On 31.08.2025, 15 members od
Perlabaipady cluster took voluntary initiative to clean the bushes
around anganwadi
and presented a book rack worth Rs.
3900 to the school. On 22.09.2025 members of Perla Ujire cluster handed
over a book rack worth Rs. 3950 to Perla anganawadi. The president,
members and the parents of Child Development Committee were also
present.

Vidya Snehi Loan
Disbursement Programme
Capuchin
Krishik Seva Kendra, along with Vimukti SHG Trust, offered an interest
free educational loan, Vidya Snehi to the needy youth to continue their
education. This programme was held at Vimukti hall on July 20, 2025.
Rev. Fr. Vinod Mascarenhas, Director of CKSK, Mrs. Sahli, the president
of Vimukti SHG Trust, and all the office bearers of the Trust were
present. Mrs. Nishmitha welcomed the guests. Programme was inaugurated
by featuring the symbolic display of the 6 years journey of the
Vidyasnehi scheme. Later the founder of Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra
Rev. Fr. Theophil Pereira was rememberd. Altogether 37 students
benefitted from this educational loan. Addressing the audience, Fr. Vinod said, "Students and parents must
be aware
of their responsibilities. Intellectual growth along with education is also important. Students must avoid negative influences of the society.”
Mrs. Shali commended the work of the organisation towards the women and
the youth. Mrs. Savitha compered, and Mrs. Rohini gave the vote of
thanks.

Workshop on
mehendi designs
Vimukti
SHG Trust, along with Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra, has organised a
workshop on mehendi designs in the month of May for the welfare of the
children of SHG women. Proprietor of Janani Professional Beauty Parlour,
Ms Nethra conducted the workshop. Altogether, 15 children learnt the
basics of mehendi designs, making a cone and various modern designs
enthusiastically. They were provided with a participation certificate.
During the closing ceremony, some students appreciated
the opportunity received to enhance one more skill in their student
life. Ms Nethra also asked the children not to stop learning but to
continue it and approach her whenever they face difficulties in making
designs. Ms. Lavina welcomed and Ms. Rohini gave a vote of thanks.
