Vimukti SHG Trust
proudly celebrated International Women’s Day on March 8, 2026 with
great enthusiasm and commitment to promoting women’s empowerment and
gender equaliy, at Vimukti Sabhabhavan.
The program commenced with a prayer song followed by the welcome
address by the secretary of Vimukti SHG Trust Mrs. Raina Lobo. The
program was inaugurated by the guests on the dais by lighting the
lamp. The chief guest of the program Mrs. Priya Agnes, Child
Development Project Officer and Women Welfare Protection Officer,
Belthangady delivered an informative speech addressing the issue of
family harassment faced by many women in our society. She
highlighted the importance of awareness, courage and legal support
in dealing with such challenges. She emphasized on making use of the
support systems available to protect their rights and dignity. She
also spoke about the growing risks of cyber crime and advised all
women to be cautious while using digital platforms. Four important
tips were shared to stay safe from these crimes.
The honorary president of the program and the director of the
organization, Rev. Fr. Vinod Mascarenhas spoke, about the importance
of the mapping of the voting list and encouraged women to actively
participate in the electoral process by ensuring their names are
correctly included in the voter list and by exercising their right
to vote responsibly.
The president of the program Mrs. Shali, President, Vimukti SHG
Trust assured her support in all the programs of the organization.
Prizes were distributed for the winners of the competitions held
with respect to Womens day. The program was concluded with a
sumptuous lunch.
Ms. Shama compered the program, Fr. Rohan Lobo conducted fun games
and Mrs. Premalatha gave a vote of thanks.
