Belthangady,
November:
A comprehensive Diabetes Awareness Session was organized by
Vimukti SHG Trust during the month of November with the objective of
educating women on diabetes prevention, early diagnosis, and healthy
lifestyle practices. The programme was conducted as part of the
observance of World Diabetes Day on November 14, supporting the
global initiative to raise awareness about diabetes.
The awareness sessions were held across six clusters of the Trust—Halepete,
Patrame, Perlabaipady, Arambody, Indabettu, and Kanyaadi 1—ensuring
widespread community participation.
During the sessions, participants were provided essential
information on recognizing early symptoms of diabetes, including
excessive thirst, frequent urination, constant tiredness, and
unexpected weight loss. Mobilisers of the organization, Ms. Rohini,
Ms. Savitha, and Ms. Mohini, guided the attendees on potential
long-term complications associated with untreated diabetes and
emphasized the importance of medication adherence and regular
medical check-ups.
ASHA activist Ms. Vijaya from Indabettu was also present and
encouraged women to make effective use of the healthcare services
offered at Primary Health Centres (PHCs).
The participants expressed appreciation to Vimukti SHG Trust for
hosting a valuable and informative programme aimed at improving
community health and empowering women with essential knowledge
regarding diabetes management.
