Diwali the festival of light was celebrated on October 18th, 2025 at
Daya Special School. Fr. Vinod Mascarenhas, the Director of Daya
Special School presided over the program. The chief guest Fr. Paul
Sebastian D'Souza, the parish priest of Holy Cross Church, Manjotti
and Mrs. Sujatha, special educator Daya Special School were present
on the stage. The program was started with the prayer song by the
students and the teachers and the program was symbolically
inaugurated by lighting lamp and the diyas which symbolizes the
victory of light over darkness and good over evil.
Fr. Vinod Mascarenas, the director of the organization, explained
the importance of the day. He wished everyone a happy Diwali by
conveying the message that since it is difficult to bring people
together in the community as we in the Organization use to do
earlier in the community celebrations, we celebrate Diwali in our
school with all children without considering their caste or creed.
Diwali should not be simply a celebration but it should bring a
positive changes in our attitudes and behaviours which always think
about others and their happiness and pain. And we should teach our
children a moral of spreading the light in other s lives rather make
others to suffer.
The chief guest of the program, Fr. Paul Sebastian D Souza,
demonstrated various types of magic and explained the speciality of
the Diwali festival to the children through his magic tricks. At the
end, the students entertained everyone with their songs and dances.
All the teaching and non-teaching staff of the school and special
children were present in the program. Special Educator Mrs.
Chiranjeevi welcomed the gathering and the supportive teacher Mrs.
Suraksha thanked everyone and the program was hosted by the special
educator Ms. Priya.
